A Trusted Partner and Resource for Nonprofits

Founded in 2019, NSG has grown to become a trusted resource for nonprofits and the intermediaries and consultants who serve them.

NSG has built a strong infrastructure to provide learning and professional development, make connections between nonprofits for learning and sharing, and offer access to resources and networks that accelerate nonprofit impact.

Recognizing a Need in the Nonprofit Sector

WNY’s local funders committed to capacity building, along with nonprofit consultants, recognized a growing need for a more collaborative and comprehensive approach to strengthening nonprofits, and began collaborating in 2017 to discuss and develop new approaches.

In 2019, they formed The Western New York Nonprofit Support Group, later shortened to the Nonprofit Support Group (NSG), and hired a director.

NSG began with the premise that a healthy nonprofit sector is essential for a thriving community. Nonprofits that can continually build their knowledge, expertise, and skills are better positioned to fundraise, develop staff, build effective boards, communicate, and run their operations.

The new collaborative would also serve as a connection among nonprofits and those that served them, building stronger relationships and opportunities for them to learn from each other.
